Cropping your first event

Open the tool and drop your photos in, or tap Choose photos.
Drag the bars on the photo — top, bottom, left and right — until only the backdrop shows. Or type exact pixel amounts.
Tap See the result to check the finished crop, and use the arrows to flick through a few photos and make sure it works across the set.
Tap the big button to crop everything.

Once you've found the right numbers for your booth's template, they'll be the same at every event. Write them down and type them straight in next time.

Adding your logo

Under Delivery, tap Choose logo. A PNG with a transparent background works best.
Pick a corner, then set the size and opacity.
Check it on a light photo and a dark one before running the whole event.

Naming files for the client

Type the event name into the Event name box and every photo comes out numbered in order — Smith-Wedding_0001.jpg, Smith-Wedding_0002.jpg and so on. The tool shows you what the names will look like before you start. Leave it blank to keep the original file names.

Sending straight to Google Drive

Under Where it goes, choose Upload to Google Drive.
Tap Connect Google Drive and sign in. Afterbooth asks for one narrow permission that only lets it work with files it creates — it cannot see anything else in your Drive.
Give the folder a name, or leave it blank to use the event name.
Run it. When it finishes you get a share link ready to send to the client.

A 300-photo event is roughly 2.4GB. A free Google account has 15GB shared across Gmail, Drive and Photos, so if you run several events a month you'll want a paid Google plan. Afterbooth checks your free space first and warns you rather than failing half way.

Very large events

A tablet can't hold a whole event in a single zip file — it runs out of memory and the page reloads. Afterbooth handles this by packaging long events into several files, each of which downloads the moment it's ready, so nothing is ever lost part-way. On a laptop you can choose a single file instead.

The free version, and removing its limits

Without a licence, Afterbooth does 25 photos a run and marks every exported photo. Buy a licence, then paste the key from your receipt into the Licence box in the tool and tap Activate. It's remembered on that device, and it keeps working at venues with no signal.

When something goes wrong

Photos won't load. Check they're JPEG or PNG. HEIC files can't be opened by any browser — set your booth app to export JPEG. If a photo fails, the tool names it on screen.
Nothing happens when you tap Choose photos. You're probably viewing the page inside another app. Open it in Safari or Chrome directly.
The Google sign-in button does nothing. Safari is blocking the popup. Settings › Safari › turn off Block Pop-ups.
Uploads stop part way. Note which photo number it stopped at and get in touch — that detail tells us exactly what happened.
